"Doors to the Past" Walking Tour of Historic Homes
Reserve the weekends of September 22, 23, 29 and 30th, 2007 for "Doors to the Past", the Sherman Hill Tour of Historic Homes. This year's tour celebrates our 31st annual tour of homes and honors first, second and third generation residents living in the Sherman Hill neighborhood and their historic homes.
This year's tour will include 8-12 homes, apartments or gardens over the two weekends. The tour will once again include Hoyt Sherman Place and the "Uncle" Henry Wallace home. Some properties will be open both weekends and additional properties will be open that are for sale or retail shops, including Classic Hats for Men, Vines to Wine and Café Di Scala.
The walking tour is an inside look at homes and apartment buildings built in the 1880s and early 1900s. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of décor, from ornate Victorian to Turn-of-the-Century, roaring Twenties to modern, living rooms, gardens and apartments. Property owners provide a personal tour detailing renovations and preservation projects, both inside and outside.
